MessageLabs

Emails are the cornerstone of today's businesses.
Threats to email are a major - and growing - business issue.
MessageLabs is the leading business solution.

What is MessageLabs?

MessageLabs Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Services focus on identifying and averting unwanted emails.  All inbound and outbound email to and from Enet5's hosted Microsoft Exchange platform is protected by MessageLabs.

MessageLabs actively protects over 20,000 organisations worldwide, scanning 140 million business emails daily, through 13 data centres on four continents.

What does MessageLabs do?

The MessageLabs Protect service (Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus) provides multi-level protection against all email-based threats such as viruses, malware, spam, unsolicited mail and phishing scams.

Operating at the internet level, MessageLabs Protect combines multiple best-of-breed commercial scanners with the industry-leading predictive technology MessageLabs Skeptic.

So how effective is MessageLabs?

MessageLabs Anti-Virus service provides 100% protection from known and unknown viruses.
The Spam capture rate is 95% (19 out of 20) and false positive rate of only 0.0004% or 1 in 250,000 emails (VeriTest Anti-Spam Benchmark Service Report).
Email continuity is delivered through embedded protection and recovery, automatic email spooling and the distribution of email traffic across multiple data-centre locations throughout Europe and across the world.

What are the escalating threats to email?

Virus Attack:  The global ratio of email-borne viruses in email traffic from new and previously unknown bad sources and destined for valid recipients now exceeds 1 in 50 emails and this ratio is deteriorating.
Spam Protection: The global ratio of spam in email traffic from new and unknown bad sources, for which the recipient addresses were deemed valid, now exceeds 68% - i.e. two out of three emails are unsolicited spam.

Phishing attacks:  2005 has seen an accelerating increase in phishing attacks related to credit card fraud.  As predicted, Chip & Pin technologies have driven the criminals towards online fraud and the number of cases of card-not-present fraud has increased by almost one third, and is now the largest type of card fraud in the UK.
